How to Show Up Confidently Online

marketing Feb 11, 2019

This is one thing I've been getting asked about more and more.

The C Word... Confidence.

Women in our The Coach + Grow Co. Mastermind want to show up online more confidently.

My clients want to be more confident around friends & family who aren't plant-based.

Growing up, I was not as confident as I am today.

I hated public speaking.

I once had to give a speech in 7th grade in front of the entire class, and I got so nervous I just started laughing... AND COULDN'T STOP.

My teacher felt bad for me so she let me do another project instead.

Confidence comes with age for sure, but I've found a few other things have helped me become the confident woman I am today, and I want to share those with you.

Why is confidence so important?
Why do I urge you to read this entire email right now?

Because if you don't feel confident, it's going to hold you back. It's going to keep you from the life you're meant to have. It's going to rob your happiness and joy.

And most of all, because with a little work you can change that.

You can become the most confident person in the room.

Here's how I increased my confidence, and how YOU can do the same thing...

1). Get Healthy

It always comes back to health, doesn't it?

Getting healthy gave me a significant boost in confidence.

Before going plant-based, not only was my skin a hot mess, but my stomach always hurt. When you don't feel good it's hard to be confident. However, when you do feel good, you're like super freaking woman. Moving, dancing, and singing. If you're struggling with confidence, check in with your body, how are you feeling?

Are you feeling energized? Glow-y? On top of the world amazing?

If not, what can you do to get yourself a little closer each day?

2). Own Your Individuality

This is one of my favorites... No one can do you better than you. Put that on your wall my friend!

This is me: I run The Seasonal Diet, I help women lose weight on a plant-based lifestyle, I work with my husband Peter who is the most patient loving person I have ever met, we love watching sometimes cheesy feel-good TV shows together, my mom had me when she was 19, I'm obsessed with green juice, dark chocolate, tahini, and the only type of shots I take are aloe vera. My idea of a good time is shopping at the health food store or taking a yin yoga class with all the props.

No one can say the exact same thing, because that's me.

And, no one can describe themselves like you either.

My point is, own who you are.

When you try to be like everyone else, that's when you don't feel confident. You feel like you're not as good, and like you don't have anything to add.

Comparison is the thief of joy, but owning who you are is the secret to freedom.

3). Do The Scary Stuff

Every time I do something I'm terrified to do, I increase my confidence.

Whether it be a hike, putting myself out there for a job or opportunity, investing in my health or business, moving to an island, quitting my job, speaking in front of 500 people, going live on my facebook page... it always pays off.

My technique for actually doing the scary thing is doing it fast before my brain figures out what I'm about to do. I don't want to talk through it or think about it too much, I just want to do it. Might not be the solution for you, but works for me.

4). Celebrate Your Wins

Speaking of just doing it, and doing it quickly - that's not the case AFTER I do the scary thing... Once I do it, I cherish it.

When you finally do the thing you've been scared to do, celebrate, talk about how great it was, what you did well.

I don't criticize or think about everything I could have done better, I simply honor that I did it and that I survived.

Get in the habit of celebrating your wins, I have my 1:1 clients do this every single day.

You can do this by writing down 3 wins before you go to bed each night.

5). Build Your Tribe & Remove Toxic People

If you've never been intentional about the people in your life, then it's very likely that your tribe is made up of family and childhood friends.

That might not be the tribe that you need most right now. When Peter and I first built our business we actually moved to another state and surrounded ourselves with other entrepreneurs. It was really good... it pushed us and allowed us to grow quickly without as much doubt.

If you're trying to do something you've never done before, it's so important that you surround yourself with others who have done it - or are working on doing it as well.

Going along with that, when trying something new, a lot of times we don't start out great... so our confidence is lower. Be cautious of toxic people when just getting started, you're in a vulnerable state, and this is the time that you need your encouraging and supportive tribe.

We all have gifts. We all have unique qualities to share. However, lack of confidence holds so many back from reaching their full potential.

Which is why I'm passionate about helping women own their confidence and self worth.

The world needs you and your gifts.
